CHROMIUM PLATING.

Whilst we do not consider Mr. Royce's scheme will be as effective for the production of chromium plated radiators (without causing the chromium plated parts to strip, as a result of soldering) as our present method, it is desirable to produce one 40/50 HP. radiator to R's scheme, but it should not be made as shown on LeC. 2769. It should be made in accordance with R's further requirement that we should make it up to the latest design which is going through experimentally, having slightly differently proportioned dimensions to the standard and incorporating a thermostatic control.

We do not consider that it is practicable to produce the radiator top with the matrix, and chromium plate the two together by inverting it and just dipping the tank below the surface. The objection to this scheme is the spraying of the electrolyte in practice. We should therefore leave the building up of the scheme to the Experimental Department and Mr. Smith in the Radiator Department.
