To R.{Sir Henry Royce} from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to BJ. RG.{Mr Rowledge} c. to E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. to EY. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} ORIGINAL LIGHTENED TYPE FRONT AXLE FOR PHANTOM. X8420 X8772 We have now completed 50 hrs. on the bumping test with the lightened type front axle. The axle is the one which we took to WW. and is machined to the original drawings. The fact that the axle has stood up for 50 hrs. without signs of fracture xxxxxxxxproves that it is quite safe for the road. During the 50 hrs. test we have broken several springs, rear bracket for front springs, and frame cross members. We are continuing the test for 100 hrs. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
