Dear Sir,

With reference to your letter of the 23rd. inst. for which we thank you.

You will appreciate that we are not interested in motor-cycles and that we do not consider a motor-cylce a reasonable means of forming any rational opinion upon the merits or demerits of any type of internal combustion engine.

We should be very much more interested in Brake Horse Power, Fuel Consumption, and the usual test bench figures by which the performance of an engine can be accurately determined.

We do not therefore think it is worth our while to come to London to see the engine as it is at present installed in a motor-cycle and if you will give us further details of the mechanical construction (which you have doubtless fully patented) we should know whether the device was likely to be of any interest to us.

Yours faithfully,
