Ex. FROM DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} C. to G.C. EDE. ES. & REM. X137. DAW/W25.4.33. PEREGRINE 2. PROPELLER SHAFT. With reference to DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}1/W22.3.33. we now send the original of N. sch. 3708. Propeller shaft sliding joint. As we had not completely dealt with one or two points we made a further scheme - N. sch. 3730. - which we also send herewith, in which we have made a suggestion for automatic lubrication of the sliding surface, and for removing the crossmember without having to take the extension to pieces. In other respects it follows the lines of N. sch. 3708. We think that as the surplus oil returns scheme on N. sch. 3708. involves a modification to the gearbox casting, the experiment should be tried without it until it is found to be necessary.
