asking them to send us another battery made up with this improved type of vent. This means extra expense, but will certainly be a better job. The battery admits of very easy filling and emptying, also it is quite easy to take the density readings. We like the general characteristics of this battery and it seems a very good solid job altogether except for the points about the vents.

This battery was sent in charged by the makers. After just gasing it up for a little while, we discharged it continuous-ly at 6 amperes and obtained 78 ampere hours. After charging up again we discharged it at 10 amperes and obtained 75 ampere hours. This is very good in comparison with some of the other batteries. We think that this battery with the improved vents will be a very good proposition, the only point against it perhaps being its weight.

This is a celluloid battery to sketch plan arrangement as below:-

Every cell is separate, but they are all stuck together by strips of celluloid. The terminals are at the extreme ends, and are of lead. The battery is placed in a wooden box. The box has one rather good feature, namely, that one side of the box can be removed after removing the lid{A. J. Lidsey} so that the operation of charging the
