Faulty Balata speed indicator belt for Chassis No. 7-CA, recommending a material change.

(Balata Belts) The belt of this came off for no apparent reason and on examining it I found it to be a Balata one, which is much too stiff for the purpose. It also had a metal fastening which is too heavy. This is only a small item but has in the past been the cause of considerable trouble, and I would like to point out that these particular belts should be condemned on all cars, and instead, the soft, light, and flexible raw hide ones with wax end sewing should be substituted. The mileage recorder did not appear to be working correctly in the little moving discs opposite the holes. | ||
