RE BODY DESIGN.

Mr. Royce is in agreement that we should start studying Body Design at Derby, and that a draughtsman should be employed for this work. Mr. Royce considers it extremely important in selecting your man to select a good craftsman, that is, one who can do work himself with the materials to be used. It is not intended that we should embark seriously on Body Building, but that we should start very seriously on the job of becoming expert on body matters, and perhaps have one or two bodies built to our designs for experimental cars, and depending on the progress made, build such bodies at the Works in an experimental way.

We all feel that Body Design and Manufacture is so far behind the chassis that it is most important that this work should be improved. We feel that Body Work is behind because it has not received consideration from an engineering point of view. I will discuss this matter more fully with you, but our intention is to start off with proposals for a body for the 20 H.P. Chassis.
