To R.{Sir Henry Royce} From Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} c. to S. Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. to By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} 87250. No.9/WJ.18.7.31. RADIATOR TUBES. X.7520. X.5520. X.4607. The comparative tests which have been carried out in France on the two sizes of radiator tubes of the American type have shewn that although we are better off than the present standard with the large diameter tube, it is still possible to make the car boil. With the small tubes we get 3 to 4° lower temperature. Taking all things into consideration, that is, reduced cost and reduced weight, of the larger tubes, we consider the best tube to go for is the large diameter tube with the alternative in any special cases we could always supply a radiator with the smaller tubes. The flip-flap shutters on the bonnet also give us an advantage. We do not consider, however, that we are in a position to discontinue the use of louvred bonnets altogether. Apart from the increased cooling with the louvred bonnet over the shutters, there is also a definite reduction to the heat of the floorboards. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
