Handwritten top: Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} / CTS{C. Trot Salt - Carburation} - Light pins should be on our endurance engine Handwritten right: Piston file (chassis) To Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} from Jnr.{Charles L. There must be a reason why Mr. Brookes has increased the weight of the car pins, the pins made by R.R. are bored out to a larger size resulting in a saving of :- 3 1/2" Bore .6 ozs 3 1/4" " .5 " 75 m/m " .55 " Handwritten circle: 1256 The weight of a 3 1/2" gudgeon pin being 4 1/2 ozs., the above figures show the approx. proportional increase. In regard to further lightening of the 75 m/m pin, this can be done to the extent of another .9 ozs, it means of course that the rubbing buttons would not be commonized. A design for this will be made as agreed at the Tester's conference. Jnr.{Charles L. Jenner} | ||
