RE. BENTLEY CAR (C.S/S.18.6.33).

We are not yet in a position to give an exact weight of the Bentley Chassis. Owing to body work and chassis work being done at the same time we have never had a complete chassis available. Again we have not got one car embodying all the features which will appear on the production cars.

The next car going to France will represent the production model exactly and when this is a complete chassis we intend to obtain its weight.

We attach herewith weights of all the experimental cars and bodies, this information being all that we have at the moment. From this we should expect the production chassis to weigh approximately 22 1/2 cwt, (including petrol, oil, water, tools and spares).

As regards Regulation to the Coachbuilders we recommend that the maximum permissible body weight which includes all lamps, wings, running boards, instrument board, number plates, body fixing bolts and packings - i.e. everything fitted to the chassis at the coachbuilders - should be fixed at 9 cwt. 1 qr. This is 3/4 cwt. heavier than our heaviest experimental body.

With this body weight we get a maximum car weight of approximately 31 3/4 cwt.
