December 1937. Messrs. Park Ward & Co. Ltd., 473 High Road, Willesden, London. N.W.10. Dear Sirs, Re: Wide Frame Touring Limousine 29-G-6. We thank you for your letter of the 22nd inst. re the loose covers for the above car. As previously stated, it has been decided to produce these at Derby in view of the saving in cost. Whilst we agree that in the past these covers have been taken round the welts, so destroying the air seal, in future they will stop short at the door welt, in which case they will have no influence on wind noises, and those improvements which you have proposed to effect on future bodies to overcome the noises from door jambs will not be influenced by anything we may do with the loose covers. We shall be glad to hear from you as soon as you have some improvements to offer, as we are anxious to do something to improve the wind noises on 25-G-6 and 27-G-6 bodies now in service in the Works. We refer to the American system of an air seal or damper near or at the outer edge of the door shuts. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. Car Project Department. | ||
