-2- Summary. From the point of view of trouble with silent tappets due to valve bounce it appears that the old standard camshaft E.80070 is considerably better than the latest standard E.82448 shaft - max. speeds with same valve springs (E.84551 & E.84552) being 3150 r.p.m. and 3600 r.p.m. respectively. On the other hand, at the power peak, the old shaft E.80070 is 10 B.H.P. below the present standard E.82448. The valve springs to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1302 should put the speed at which trouble (valve bounce) occurs (with E.84228 shaft) out of the normal speed range - at least up to 3500 r.p.m. We hope to confirm this when another set of springs is available.
