60016 Experimental Department 30th November 1936. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Wst.12/AP. F.R.Banks Esq., Ethyl Export Corporation, Thames House, Millbank, LONDON S.W.I. Dear Banks, Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} has passed your letter of the 27th inst., on to me. I am afraid we do not entirely agree with you on the question of wet plugs as ordinary petrol is an excellent insulator, and even if the plugs were submerged in it they would function alright. Do you mean moisture condensate? What we are anxious to establish is whether mica is fundamentally less reliable as an insulator compared with Ceramic materials. Can you give us any definite evidence which will help us.? With regard to your last paragraph, were the manufacturers concerned using mica or Ceramic plugs.? Many thanks for your interesting remarks. Kind regards, Yours sincerely, | ||
