Examination of a Buick cooler and its by-pass safety valve.

On examining the Buick cooler again we notice that it has a by-pass which short circuits the cooler at a certain maximum pressure. Presumably this is only a safety valve in case the cooler gets choked up, because it does not prevent the main bearing pressure etc. being passed to the cooler. However, we are taking the opportunity of checking the back pressure of Hancock's matrix as soon as we can get hold of it. We have cabled Grylls to get some further information.

Attached is a sketch showing the Buick by-pass valve.

We shall be glad to know if there is anything further we can do to expedite this job.
