This car, owing to bad roads, is often pulling hard from just below 20 MPH., and in passing 20/22 MPH. torque reaction vibrations are quite noticeable. This seems to have always been a feature of our 45 HP. cars; probably due to good carburation etc we do not change gear when most cars would.

(1) Can we make the speed at which this occurs lower?
(2) Can we reduce its intensity?

With the flexible springs we would like to try more damping. Can we make any improvement here by changing the valve springs or changing the dampers, and fitting shorter levers (see other memo.)

The thermostat is now keeping the water at 70C quite steadily but the engine this year is firing in the silencer and I have asked Dodd to remove the small silencer for more heat from the exhaust, but it is possible that the throttle is not closing tightly enough or the carburetter badly adjusted. Can you say what is the usual reason?
