Re: Chassis B.162.LS - A.Hartley,Esq.,

Referring to memo Hd{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy}/WT.23/MW.30.5.38 regarding the above, this car was collected by Kingsbury from our Agent Owner's premises, at the request of Mr Hanbury. The reason being the Owner was still not satisfied, and I was asked in an advisory capacity whether the complaint was justified or not, which I do regularly. It was not necessary therefore to report upon it. The opinion I gave to Kingsbury was that the axle would not be complained of by 99% of our Owners, and that the above owner must be very critical.

There was a slight period of axle noise at 30 m.p.h. chiefly on the drive, very little on the over-run. There was a vibration period approx. 60-65 m.p.h.

Having been informed that Derby had dealt with this car, and new axle fitted, I suggested that the propeller shaft damper should be checked for load, and the shaft for balance. At the same time look at the pinion thrust race. I did not try the car again, as I was actually on my way to Derby when asked to give my opinion on this car.
