Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst.1/MA. June 20th, 1932.

Messrs. Joseph Lucas Co. Ltd.,
Great King St.{Capt. P. R. Strong},
Birmingham.

For the attention of Dr. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} O.{Mr Oldham} Turner.

Dear Sirs,

Some time ago on the occasion of the undersigned's visit to the Lucas Research Laboratories, we had a chat about the effect of sounding two Lucas Horns together. The idea was to slightly detune one of the horns in order to get a note of slightly lower frequency but of double the power.

Would you kindly say if you have carried out any further experiments in this direction and if so what variation in pitch would be suitable for such a pair of horns.

If you consider there is anything in this method of horn sounding we should be glad if you will kindly say whether you would be willing to modify a pair of horns for us in order to give the result required.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS ROYCE LIMITED.
