Shock Absorber Indicator.

The Ashcroft type indicator which has done excellent service in the past as a shock damper indicator, has certain limitations, mainly inertia of moving parts, which the CATHODE RAY TYPE INDICATOR does not possess.

Attached for your perusal is information concerning the "COSSOR ELECTRONIC INDICATOR", which Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wd{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead}, who has been investigating the matter, considers to be the model best suited for general research work.

The cost of this apparatus is rather high, and justification for its purchase must therefore be guaranteed before the order can be placed. We consider that the purchase of one of these indicators for damper work only would be justified, but suggest that we support Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wd.{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead} in his application for this apparatus, subject to his guaranteeing that we have reasonable access to it, for shock damper research.

An Engine Indicator Unit, plus an A.C. H.T. unit, and possibly a Non Standard Pressure Unit (Catalogue numbers 3881, 3284, and 3297 respectively) will be required; the former works upon a time base so that piston displacement can be calculated, therefore the Piston Displacement Unit is not absolutely necessary.

Will you please consider this matter, and if it meets with your approval, we will ask Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wd.{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead} to arrange for a demonstration.

Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/W.Bell.

W Bell
