Seizure of Operating Lever on Front Cross Member. With further reference to the above, your memo BY/SS{S. Smith}7/DB{Donald Bastow - Suspensions}4.2.24, we have received one of these steel shields from the Works, and are having it fitted on a car on test. We would like to point out, however, that we are afraid production chassis are not on test a sufficient length of time to test out the efficiency of this shield thoroughly. No doubt the best thing to do is for these to be tested out by the Experimental Dept. on their cars which are in constant use. Possibly you may consider putting this on the 10,000 mile test chassis now running. In any case, we feel it is for the Experimental Dept. to report on this, which we shall be glad if they will do at the earliest possible moment, as if this shield is satisfactory, we should like to be in a position to fit it on cars on which we have complaints of the operating lever seizing up. Arrangements might also be made for the 20-HP chassis in use by the Demonstration Class to be fitted with one of these shields. EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}/Thn. | ||
