Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} II RECEIVED Y4553. To R.{Sir Henry Royce} From Eg. re Bensport Engine Size. Sgl/E4.7.28 Copy to Mr. S. Rg.{Mr Rowledge} I was rather concerned to see the suggestion about reducing the stroke of this engine and thereby reducing the cc. Everything, however, is of course a question of compromise and, in view of the competition rating, it is evident that our ability to keep the engine under the limit of 2100 cc will have material benefit. I do, however, feel that we shall be wise to keep the cc. as high as is possible and, therefore, I favour the suggestion put forward by Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry{Shadwell Grylls} that we should increase the bore slightly so that the capacity would be 2290 cc. The £ extra tax would not be a disadvantage as it would still be less than £10 and it would further help to make a definite difference in the eyes of the public between Bensport and Peregrine.
