HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Smth.6/JH. 9.7.36:

B-56-BN{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} - Clutch.

We handed to T.Fisher yesterday 9 black thrust springs and 9 white ones for the 10.A.3. type Borg & Beck clutch. The loadings of these should be 185 lbs. ± 5 for the black ones and 175 lbs. ±5 for the white ones when compressed to 1 11/16". Will you please check this.

We have obtained these springs as alternatives to the red ones (185 lbs. ± 5) at present in No.18 clutch for B-56-BN.{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} Will you please fit the black springs first, as we do not want to have a higher spring poundage than necessary with "No.6" material.

As the springs may not be of equal weight we suggest that before fitting the clutch you should check its balance with each of the sets fitted. You can then find the best arrangement for balance in each case and number the springs accordingly.

Will you please fit the lever Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}149.
