20 HP. ASBESTOS CORD LAGGING FOR DOWNTAKE & EXHAUST.

Standardization Sheet No.X.4238 was issued for fitting asbestos cord lagging on the exhaust down take pipe of the 20 HP. chassis.

We instructed this to the Works 13.9.23.

It was found, however, that it was no use lagging the pipe with asbestos cord unless the cord was protected by a sheet metal cover. One or two attempts were made to do this, but none of them appear to have been agreed to by Yourself.

We have got a lot of the material in, so I propose to cancel our instructions for the asbestos cord lagging until some scheme is arranged to protect it by means of sheet metal.

One of the main reasons for not fitting the lagging was, there was an objection to same as it interfered with the removal of the dynamo end cover.

We ought to have a decision either to use the asbestos lagging or to abandon it.

In the meantime, BY {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} /SS {S. Smith} will cancel instructions for ordering material.
