To Cx.{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager} From Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Copy to Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Re: STREAMLINED LAGONDA. -------------------- Thank you for Cx.{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager}6/KW.1.10.40. We had observed this article in The Motor. The body that Lagondas have fitted appears to be very nearly a Chinese copy of that on the Embiricos Bentley. The car was of course sold to a private customer before the war and was agreed by everybody to be unsuitable for sale as an approved model to the general public, owing to lack of accommodation. The Paulin body for the Show had four doors and more seating accommodation than the standard Bentley. We have been interested in the flood of publicity that Lagondas have been obtaining during the last few weeks, notably in The Motor of 18th September and The Autocar of the 20th. We should have thought that the value of such publicity at the present moment was questionable. On the other hand many people are sick of war news and articles such as those on the Lagonda catch the eye of the public, since there is little of interest today in the Motor papers. If we could get occasional articles on B.Vs{J. Vickers} used for war work inserted in the press, we believe it would be of value, as of course would any similar articles on B.IIs or R.R. products.
