x 777? To: Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} COPY. April 17, 1930. To: Mr. Olley. From: Mr. Burton. CHASSIS 69-WJ. After running 3800 miles this chassis was taken off the road. A rough inspection showed us - 1. The brakes became totally useless and had to be taken up all around. (Am writing Btn. for further details - Oy.) 2. Gearbox oil was low - added 2 quarts. 3. Oil in axle low - 1 pint was added. 4. There was considerable leakage of oil from the rear gearbox bearing and front universal joint bearing. This was so bad that the whole underside of the coachwork behind the gearbox, and all chassis parts - crossmembers, etc., were covered with a film of oil in the front side and dry on the rear side. 5. Oil leaked from the pinion front bearing. 6. While the rear axle always had a slight hum, yet this did not become worse during the running done here. Btn. | ||
