R.{Sir Henry Royce} Summers, Esq.,
Messrs. John Summers & Sons, Limited,
Hawarden Bridge Steel Works,
SHOTTON, Chester.

Dear Dick,

I saw Lovell-Hewitt, the Secretary of the Avon Rubber Co.,Ltd., last week, and we discussed the question of fitting Avon tyres to your car.

I told him that I would like you to try the Avons as you would at least be able to get a figure of merit on them to compare with the various Dunlop and India tyres you have been using.

I have passed your comments about the pistons and the oil consumption on to Haywood as I imagine by now he has a supply of high compression pistons.

Since the present Bentley has been in existence five years, I am reluctant to visit Shotton until I can show you something that indicates we have not been wasting our time during the past few years. As soon as I have an interesting motor-car which is released for general consumption I will try and make a date with you.

Yours sincerely,
