We have received your letter Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rml/J.4/4/30.
We have telegraphed to you to-day: IMPOSSIBLE FOR CAR TO REACH DERBY BEFORE THURSDAY OR FRIDAY.

We received the piston rings late last night, and to-day we fitted same. It will mean that we cannot possibly leave here before Tuesday at the very earliest, the time being taken up by straightening out our bills, etc. Then again, we have to transport the car over the Channel by the afternoon boat, as the transport boat only runs in the afternoon. To get from here to Boulogne to catch an afternoon boat is more than what can be done in a morning, therefore we shall have to leave here the night before.

Re our returning here on the 14th. inst. we will talk to you about it when we arrive. The drivers will, if everything is O.K. be leaving here Monday midnight, and should arrive in Derby on Tuesday night. This will mean that the vouchers cannot be waited for.

We have received word from Hk.{Col. T. Harker - Sales} that the garage door can be proceeded with.

G.W.H.
