Origin: To adopt modified change gear mechanism. Experimental Test Report: The box and gears were quite satisfactory: there was no tendency of any gears coming out of mesh during the 10,000 miles test in France fitted to 12-EX car. "A"-Scrap and replace at all costs. "B"-Scrap and replace on those engines in Works. "C"-Scrap present stock and replace on all engines not yet handed to test. "D"-Use up existing stock.
