Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/EAC.2/ST.{Capt. P. R. Strong} 24th August, 1941. F.{Mr Friese} CONOLLY, Esq., Wandle Bank, Wimbledon, LONDON. S.W. 19. 1021, Dear Conolly, We are wanting a further four hides, to be in the same colour as those which you recently supplied. As you will remember, these were in LUXAN Natural Grain, and were used with leather cloth. You will undoubtedly remember that the question arose whether the hides should be lightly printed to make them a better match with the Rexine, or left with the natural grain, and you decided that it would be better to leave them with the natural grain, with which decision I agreed from the point of view of retaining a soft hide. It occurs to me, however, that should we require a reasonably large number of hides, you might have difficulty in finding sufficient of the quality which you have supplied. Apart from this, it would naturally affect cost. I am wondering if it would be advisable, on the next hides, to have them lightly printed. Are you likely to be in this district or in the Coventry district in the near future? If so I could meet you and talk this matter over. I am anxious that the sample bodies should be as near as possible like what we hope to get from production. As these hides will not be wanted for at least another month, there will possibly be an opportunity for me to meet you. Hoping you are well and with kind regards, Yours sincerely, | ||
