Ian,

Attached is the list produced from the last 'Archive Day'.

You may recall that the index was written on the back of scrap paper from the 'scrap box' on the floor under the photocopier in the archive room. This 'scrap' turned out to be the incoming correspondence, and the 'scrap box', the 'work pending' tray.

When I discovered this, I returned the original papers to the Hunt House immediately, requesting that they be returned to me when they had been actioned. I never received a reply, or more important, the papers. This means that the fourth piece of data on each line, the subject heading, is missing.

The list is in the form of a database style, and will assist in locating any of the 'X' files in the correct file number and box number.

I believe that the index will probably be of use in speeding up access to the files as it stands. If the subject headings are available, I will be pleased to complete the list. Then it can be printed in the other two configurations, ie in order of file number and subject heading, to achieve the full cross-referenced index originally intended.

If the subject headings are not available, I would think that it should be a relatively quick exercise to list them.

For future reference, a copy of this index should be retained in Box 177, and some means of getting any user of the index to always return it to that box. Also it would be useful to direct users of the archive to that box so that they find the index before using the archive.

Have a good day!

Regards,

Steve
