To WH. from R.{Sir Henry Royce} c.c. to EFC. c.c. to BJ. ORIGINAL RECEIVED 21 FEB 1918 X.3231. Re - Bijur Dynamo. Regarding the Bijur dynamo for my experimental work, the little engine I can fit this to runs at 750 revs. per minute. The diameter of shaft is .9985. The sketch herewith shows the size of the crankshaft end on which I can fit a "V" pulley for a Whittle belt. The distance between the centres of the pulley will be :- 36" I suggest a pulley on the dynamo of about 4" which will give 10" pulley, (ie., about 1800 ft. per minute belt speed) on the engine, if the dynamo is to run 1800 revs. The pulley diameters can be modified by you if the speed is different from 1800. The size of the pulley on the dynamo should not be smaller than 3.5" belt centres. It would be advisable to make provision for tightening the belt and the dynamo can hang from a rod as in the case of the dynamos and motors on the chassis. There is a brick wall which can be drilled to carry two brackets and a tension bolt.
