EXPERIMENTAL REPORT. Contd.

Expt. No.

REF: W.1329 / 12.12.25.

(6) Endurance tests carried out on the two machines in which they were run for 7 hours at 2000 r.p.m. with the timing lever fully advanced were satisfactory in each case.

(7) & (8) Short circuit and open circuit tests of the two machines in which they were run at 1500 r.p.m. for half an hour in the case of the short circuit test, and at 1500 r.p.m. for quarter of an hour in the case of the open circuit test, were also satisfactory in the case of both magnetos.

(9) & (10) The open circuit volts and closed circuit amperes of the primary windings of the two machines at 3000 r.p.m. were taken and their products were observed to be as follows :-

Volts. Amperes. Volt-amperes. Volt-amperes per lb.weight.
Watford. 10.65 3.93 41.85 3.12
B.T.H.(average
of the two). 13.80 2.80 38.6 3.36

(11) Comparative utility tests of the two magnetos.
In these tests leakage paths as follows are connected across one of the six gaps with the magneto running at 1500 r.p.m. and the greatest length of regular spark obtainable was noted with :-
