LOW SPEED STEERING WOBBLES.

We have had several customers complain of low speed wobbles on the 20 HP. fitted with four wheel brakes. They have refused to take their cars until the fault has been overcome.

The cars complained of have the plain bushes at the bottom of the pivot, roller bearings at the top. There is a further modification which is fitted to the present 20 HP. car to run 10,000 miles with plain bushes top and bottom. We find that with the plain bushes top and bottom we can still obtain low speed wobbles.

The only way we can satisfy customers is to fit the friction device similar to that used on all the 20 HP. cars previous to 4-wheel brakes. We make use of the same friction washers as we used previously; they have to be fixed on the bottom of the pivot instead of the top.

We have found it is only necessary to fit this device on one pivot.

Another modification which we find is an improvement is to release the set up spring on the side steering tube joint and leave it so that it has a balanced spring the same as we have always used on the 40/50 HP. and Phantom.
