to be kept constant.
The air pressure in the tyres should be maintained by daily inspection at a pressure which we will specify.

(4) In the case of the failure of any of the test tyres we should be advised immediately, and the remaining tyre on the other side of the vehicle should be kept in use by means of the spare wheel until its useful life is finished, so that we shall then have a pair of tyres which have been run to destruction under precisely similar conditions.

(5) Permission should be given to our inspector to inspect the tyres at any time either under running conditions or in the garage. This will necessitate our Inspector having Cognisance of the routes usually covered by the test cars, and also a Pass permitting him to accompany the driver on any of the test journeys.

(6) The mechanical condition of the car in so far as it may affect the tyres behaviour (for instance lack of alignment) should be always kept as efficient as possible. In case of any mechanical inefficiency of this nature the car should be withdrawn from test until it is rectified.

(7) Records of the mileage completed by each tyre should be provided say weekly, or preferably daily, if this can be made convenient to you.

(8) On the completion of any test the complete tyre including tube should be returned to Test Dept. Aston Cross, with particulars of the total mileage completed, reason for removal, and say special notes which would be of service.

Before the above-mentioned point 3 can be properly determined we should need some information from you regarding the load, but no doubt Mr Fox on his visit to you will be able to discuss with you all the detail arrangements here outlined, and to arrive at such methods as will involve you in the least possible trouble.

Will you, therefore, be good enough to advise me whether the above suggestions met with your approval, or of any modifications which your experience or convenience would lead you to suggest.

Yours faithfully,

THE DUNLOP RUBBER CO. LTD.

WALTER BOND. (SGD)
