To EY. from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 47520 c. to Sft.{Mr Swift} C. to MX.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rml/LGl.12.28. AXLE CONTROL ARM - '33' 47520 Instructions for fitting up. In order to connect up the triangular arm to the front shock absorber the following procedure should be adopted. Shock damper arm removed from the serrations and ball end inserted in the top of F.79186 from which all the plugs have been removed. Shock damper arm then replaced on serrations. Pivot lean accurately set by wedges on spring seat to the required figure.&XXXXXX Rear plug G.75358 and pad inserted in triangulated arm head and adjusted so that the pad is just touching the ball without exerting any pressure on it. Front plug F.79187 pad and spring inserted and screwed up choc-a-bloc, then slacked off to give the necessary .005/.015 clearance. Precautions should be taken to ensure that the length of the spring F.79190 is such that it will have not more than .100 set up if the clearance is made to the lower limit i.e. .005". For testing the damper load in position on the car, the shock absorber lever should be removed from the serrations, the ball end removed from the front of the triangulated lever by removing plug F.79187, the lever replaced on its serrations. The load can then be measured on the ball. The rear plug G.75358 should not be moved after once the pivot lean has been set. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
