With reference to By/SB{Mr Bull/Mr Bannister}6/MG/20.6.39, it will unfortunately not be possible for us to return to you the broken front bumper plates from the above car, because the owner apparently threw them away prior to arriving at Vichy with his car.

The mechanic who we sent to attend to the car at Vichy informed us of the above and also said that the broken plates were missing when he attended to the front bumper as per our Report N° P.237.

We have entered into our Stores for dispatch to you the defective plate removed from B.140.MR Mr. Gapland. It will be observed that this plate is cracked.

We have noted with interest the last paragraph of your memo.
