-3- (7) To examine the general performance an behaviour of the engine when running on undiluted Glycol. Tests on the Single Cylinder Unit showed that special rubber was required to provide satisfactory cylinder joints and connections. (8) To find the effect of raising the outlet temperature to a possible limit of 150°C. on the running and performance of the engine. We should be glad to receive your comments on these proposals. We attach herewith comparisons of the size of radiator required for a 'Fury' aircraft operating with a present standard Kestral engine, running water cooled and developing 480 BHP. at 2250 R.P.M., and also with a Goshawk engine developing 600 BHP. at 2600 R.P.M., running on Ethylene Glycol at an outlet temperature of 120°C. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
