Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Exptl Dept. ------------------ x4117, Hy{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer}5/T.28.10.30. CHASSIS TROUBLES AND CUSTOMERS' COMPLAINTS. The quarterly complaints report indicates that there is a repetition of some of the complaints much too frequently. It has therefore been decided that each item of complaint shall be given to someone well versed in that particular item, to investigate the trouble thoroughly, and to work at it continuously until a satis-factory solution has been found, which will remove the cause of complaint. It may be that alteration to design is required in some cases, and if so, any suggested alteration should be put to the Experimental Dept., who will consult BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} and if necessary and desirable, pass it on to West WitteringHenry Royce's home town for approval. The progress of the investigations into each of the items should be reported weekly, or oftener, to Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} or GWE. (and copy to Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}) who will provide the past history of the job and give advice on the usual methods of investigation. The two main objects to bear in mind, during this concentrated effort, are:- (1) To find a method of dealing with the complaint in question with a view to curing the trouble in such a manner that it will never recur. (2) To find a method which can be applied to new chassis, so that the complaint cannot arise. The jobs allotted to you for investigation are as follows:- SHOCK ABSORBERS. FABRIC COUPLINGS. OVERHEATING. Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}/Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} | ||
