JAPAN 3. BRAKE DIFFERENTIALS.

DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}2/M14.2.31.

It is suggested that we should use at any rate the same gears on both foot and hand brake differentials. At the moment they are different.

On N. scheme 3215. we shew the foot brake gears applied to the hand brake. We cannot use the foot brake casing because it needs to be of steel and the hand brake can be aluminium.

The R.H. crown wheel is brazed into its (long) shaft on the foot brake. It could be made solid with its (short) shaft as shewn on the lower view, unless the advantage of [strikethrough]lubrication[/strikethrough] duplication of pieces offsets the economy of making it solid.

The original of N. scheme 3215. is attached to BY's copy of this memo.
