0.3 amps more and occurs at a similar speed. At high speed, 4000 rpm (55 mph) it falls to 3.3 amps compared with 5.0 for the standard.
The explanation of this result is no doubt that owing to the magnetic characteristics of the iron the varriator teeth detract more from the performance at low speeds than at high.
While this machine might be improved a more promising experiment at present being made up in the shops, we think, is one in which a longer core is obtained without lengthening the machine as a whole and a larger number of armature conductors is used. We think we could safely make this
