OVER-OILING ON 'PHANTOM' ENGINE. +8950

Since our last visit to WW. we have tested on the road several production test cars which have been suspected for over-oiling. On two cars there was a definite improvement made by stopping up the oil which runs out of the rockers on the valve side.

The appearance of the parts after a 50 miles run, showed that with the oil stopped up on the inlet valve rockers, there still appeared to be sufficient lubrication on the faces of the valve head and rocker.

So far we have not seen a bad example of an engine for over-oiling.

The amount of improvement by stopping up the rockers is such that the engine which would just not pass was made passable. We propose stopping off the oil from the rockers for the inlet valves on 8-EX car which is to run 10,000 miles in France.
