Re: CHASSIS B.107.GP - Mr. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} DUBONNET

We have tightened up the bearings of this car and fitted RR.56 liners to the mains and big-ends.

Please find attached our "Report upon Sinkage of Bearings and alteration to Liners".

We found the main bearings to be scored, not due to any overheating or lack of oil, but most probably due to foreign matter having found its way into the oil circulation.

The big-end bearings were O.K.

We carried out an oil test after effecting the above work. This was satisfactory.

With reference to our Sr/VA8/ET.4.2.37, you will observe from the attached report why we need oversize (.II0" thick) RR.56 main bearing liners.

We have sent a copy of the attached report to Hd.{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy}

We should mention that Mr. Dubonnet is a very fast driver.
