W. A.{Mr Adams} Robotham, Esq.,
Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd.,
Derby.

Dear Mr. Robotham,

I know you don't want to make my job in pushing A.C.9. Bearings more difficult, but when I was up talking to you in Mr. Hives' office, you made a statement with regard to the Cleveland Graphite Company's new product, which you called "the 3-decker bearing", and you seemed rather to disparage the AC.9 in comparison. I thought at the time that it might be just your private opinion.

The opinion at Napier, where they have been trying out most of these things, seems to prove what you led us to believe in the first place, namely that AC.9 is a real winner and so I should not have thought anything further about it, but last Friday night I was staying with Mr. Fedden and he told me you spoke very highly indeed to him of the performance of the new Cleveland Graphite Company product.

All of which makes it very much harder for me to get AC.9 tried out at Bristol. (verb.sap).

Yours sincerely,
