MESSRS. S. Smith & Sons (M.A.) Ltd.,
Cricklewood Works,
London, N.W.2.

For the attention of Mr. C.W.Nichols.

Dear Sirs,

"Jackalls" - 5-B-IV.

The writer 'phoned you yesterday afternoon re the above, but unfortunately got the wrong extension number. However, we confirm the message given below.

The nearside rear Jack Bracket has been fractured, evidently through the Jacks being in a partly extended position when run on the road; this has also broken the flexible piping and bent the steel tubing.

Also, the rear portion of the nearside front bracket has fractured, but we think this has taken place under normal conditions and have despatched the piece in question to you to-day.

As 5-B-IV starts on a 10,000 miles trip this coming week-end, Saturday 30th, will you please endeavour to send your mechanic to these Works to fit new brackets. We would like him here to commence work on Friday morning at approximately 8.30 a.m. if possible.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
