1031 Experimental Dept. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/CTS.{C. Trot Salt - Carburation}8/MH.{M. Huckerby} 20th. April, 1939. The S.U. Carburetter Co. Ltd., Adderley Park, BIRMINGHAM, 8. For the attention of Mr. Cooper. Dear Sirs, Further to our recent telephone conversations regarding H.V.5 carburetters for our production requirements, we would like you to proceed with the main essentials towards supplying a quantity of these carburetters in accordance with the quantity stated in the previous correspondence from our Order Office. We shall be sending you a complete specification in the course of the next two or three days. With reference to the float mechanism of these carburetters, we notice that the fork which controls the needle valve now has no stop to prevent it from following the float to the bottom of the float chamber when it is empty. This has caused a number of jams on our various experimental cars, so that flooding results until someone gives the float chamber a knock. Finally, will you please supply 12 needles marked B.3D., dimensions for which are already in your possession. Incidentally, this is the needle we are asking for on our specification. Yours faithfully, for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
