SLEEVELESS TYPE R.O.2. MAGNETOS
FOR 20 HP. CHASSIS.

Further again to our EFC2/AD11.10.29, we are now of the opinion that the position in respect of these magnetos is such as to warrant the issue of a standardisation sheet, which sheet will therefore be circulated.

A bench test has been made of the burning effect of the output of one of these magnetos on the distributor rotor and points of an R.R. battery ignition unit arranged to work in conjunction with one of these magnetos and the result, as seen by the text of my assistant's report WD.{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead}104. below, has been satisfactory. Messrs. North themselves are convinced of the superiority of this machine, and there is also the desirability of adopting this machine as soon as reasonably possible from the point of view of reduced cost. The position to date is summed up in my assistant's report in the following words :-

"One magneto (No.120263) has run 130 hrs. at 3000 r.p.m. on a bench rig coupled up to an R.R. battery ignition distributor with satisfactory results. The burning effect of the spark on the distributor rotor finger and on the spark points was not excessive and no worse than when in normal use with the coil.

Another magneto (No.120263) has done 3,128 miles working with an R.R. distributor on a 25 HP. chassis 12-G4. with no unsatisfactory results except those caused by the difference in the advance range to the battery ignition"
