During an open-circuit test on one of the latest type coils, a corona discharge was noticed between the primary terminal insert and the base of the H.T. lead-in. Other coils with similar type case, but with smaller inserts were tried, and it was found that this effect was not nearly so noticeable. From this we recommend that a smaller insert should be used, giving as much clearance as possible between itself and the base of the H.T. lead-in. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/RC.{R.
