-4- Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}6/MH.{M. Huckerby}17.10.39. SMALL CAR PROJECT COST - Cont'd.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} It is pointed out that the Myth chassis would weigh 1800 lbs. and that it could be guaranteed that the design would be less complicated than a Leyland Cub. If it could be produced as it ought to be for 2/6d. per lb. catalogue price, the selling figure would be £225 which was much less than the £300 available. It was agreed that the specialist might have to be used more extensively than at present to get the manufacturing cost down to the required figure, and with this object in view a proprietary rear axle will be sought as an alternative to the one designed, and also proprietary electrical equipment and brakes. SMALL CAR PROJECT MANUFACTURE. It was agreed that we should somehow get this car on the road in spite of War conditions. That Park Wards should make the body, frame, bonnet, dash, petrol tank etc. That the engine unit should be made in the Exp. Dept., also the front suspension. That we should try and use a proprietary gearbox and axle and possibly brakes. That before the body was produced a cost analysis should be got out to demonstrate that it could be produced for a sum of £80 in quantities of 100 per week. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
