X1474 To PY. from ROY{Sir Henry Royce} o.{Mr Oldham} to Nor. c. to HI. c. to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} ROY{Sir Henry Royce}5/MG21.7.32 ---------- Mr. Micklethwaite, of Firths, tells me they have supplied large quantities of ground SLV Bar to the A.E.C people over recent months, and this Bar is then treated by an Electric upsetting machine - I am not sure whether in the Works of the A.E.C people themselves, or those of a local firm - and Valves produced therefrom in a few seconds. You will recollect we discussed similar machines the Deritend Company installed, and samples so produced have been submitted. I understand Mr. Cox (Inspection Department) had one, which he is sectioning. Recently the Hughes Johnson Stampings Company have also put down such an electric upsetting machine. It might be wise to get some of our S.L.V Bar ground by Firths, converted into Valves by the two firms mentioned, and try same out exhaustively. ROY{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
