Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/GB.1/ET.7.3.41 - 2 - An attempt will be made to get two discs with the right amount of friction from the sample discs. This will of course necessitate dismantling some of them. The Borg & Beck test results for the sample discs have been converted from their units (torque & deflection at end of 12" lever) to Rolls-Royce units (torque and degrees) and plotted side by side with our results. They do not take the test as far as the maximum engine torque. In all cases their curves have a lower slope than ours. This is because they measure deflection at the end of the lever on which they hang the load. Disc friction is so low that the amount of friction measured on the same discs in each test cannot be compared satisfactorily. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/GB. G.B. | ||
