The tendency for low speed steering wobbles is more apparent on the cars fitted with 4-wheel brakes than previous 20 HP. cars. This we consider is due to the reduction in the amount of friction on the pivots. We attach a comparison of the friction surfaces, and a report from France in connection with S-G-lll steering. The springs in the side steering tube on the 20 HP. were arranged to suit the geometry when the front springs were anchored at the rear. We have tried altering these springs but it is a compromise between road shocks, low speed wobbles, and unstable steering. We suggest we prepare a friction damped pendulum lever for the 20 HP., or arrange for more friction on the pivots. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
